Q

What is an advantage of the upper epidermis

Q

Name one advantage of the the spongy mesophyll layer

A

The spongy mesophyll layer contains so many air gaps to allow carbon dioxide to fissure from the stomata to the palisade mesophyll cells

Q

How does the level of water in the plant affect the opening and closing of stomata

A

When there is plenty of water in the plant, the guard cells become turgid, which opens the stomata to allow photosynthesis by letting in CO2

When there us not very much water in the plant, the guard cells become flaccid, which closes the stomata to mantain the water vapour inside the plant.
