2
Q

How does the hypothalamus regulate temperature

A

Recieves infomation via heat receptor nuerones. If the core body termperature begins to rise, the hypothalamus triggers responses which triggers heat loss or heat gain

Q

What is the process that happens when temperature rises and how does it happen.

A

Triggers vasodilation which causes smooth muscles in the wall of the arteriole to relax and the arteriole to dilate allowing more blood to reach the surface of the skin and cool down

Q

Explain the process of howbthe kidneys produce urea

A

Glucose, salts, mineral ions, urea and water all move out of your blood amd into the kidney
Any useful substances like glucose, some ions and the right amount of water will be reabsorbed back into the blood through selective reabsorbtion
Anything not needed is passed through the urine

Q

How is concentration of urine controlled (explain the process)

A

The brain monitors the water content of the blood and tells the pituatary gland to release ADH into the blood depending on how much is needed through a negative feedback loop

Q

Explain the process of dialysis

A
  • blood is pumped out of the arteries
  • blood thinners are added
  • salt and urea are removed by diffusion
  • clean blood flows through a bubble trap to get rid of the bubbles
