What are the building importance levels?
1 = ancillary buildings, minor storage, back country huts
2 = buildings posing normal risk - all buildings except those defined in other classes
3 = buildings of higher level of societal importance or with higher levels of risk to the occupants (public spaces, schools, healthcare, prisons).
4 = buildings that are essential to disaster recovery or associated with hazardous facilities
5 = buildings whose failure poses catastrophic risk to a large area ie. damns and extremely hazardous facilities
What is a designation?
The RMA allows for areas of land to be designated for particular network utility uses under the district plan.
Once in the plan they can be carried out at any time without having to comply with district planning rules.
