17
Q

What is the power source for the Cross Feed?

A

DC Power

18
Q

How do you begin crossfeed?

A

“LOW GLOW”-Make the low side tank pumps Glow by opening the crossfeed valve and then shut down the pumps on the low side (turns on low pressure lights). To stop the crossfeed, start the fuel pumps and then close the crossfeed.

19
Q

Why do the center tanks burn first on the -800? -400?

A

On the -800 the Center Pumps have a higher output pressure.

On the -400 the Center Tanks have check valves that open at a lower pressure.

20
Q

Will you get a MASTER CAUTION for a fuel pump low pressure light?

A

Not for a single low pressure light. You will only get a Master Caution for 2 low pressure lights in the same tank.

21
Q

What happens when you pull the Fire Switch?

A
  1. Silence the Bell
  2. Arm Squibs
  3. Fuel/Spar Shutoff Closes
  4. Electric Generator Trips Off
  5. Hydraulic Shutoff Valve Closes
  6. Inhibits Hydraulic Low Pressure Light
  7. Disables Thrust Reverser
  8. Engine Bleed Valve Closes
22
Q

What does the FILTER BYPASS amber light mean?

A

An impending fuel filter bypass likely due to contamination.

23
Q

Should you crossfeed with a FILTER BYPASS light showing?

A

NO

24
Q

What does an amber “BAT DISCHARGE LIGHT” mean?

A

Battery is experiencing an excessive discharge rate. This is commonly seen during an APU Start

25
Q

What does an amber “TRU UNIT” light mean?

A

On the ground- Either TR1 2 or 3 experienced a fault.

In the air- Either TR 1 or a combined failure of TR 2 and 3 has failed.

26
Q

What does an amber “ELEC” light mean?

A

There is a DC or STANDBY electrical fault

27
Q

What voltage is the battery?

A

24 volts

28
Q

What voltage is the APU generator?

A

28 volts

29
Q

What does the MAINT switch do?

A

It is for maintenance only, it is used to check residual voltage with the IDG or CSD

30
Q

What voltage is the engine generator?

A

115 Volt, 400 Cycle, three phase power

90 kVA for the -800, 45 kVA for the -400

31
Q

What does an amber “DRIVE” light mean?

A

Generator drive malfunction occurred, specifically a Low Oil Pressure or High Oil Temperature

32
Q

What does an amber “STANDBY POWER OFF” light mean?

A

The AC STANDBY BUS or the DC STANDBY BUS is not powered

33
Q

What does a blue “GND POWER AVAILABLE” light mean?

A

Power is connected and power quality is good (-400 does not check power quality)

34
Q

What does a blue “APU GEN OFF BUS” light mean?

A

APU is up to speed, available, and power quality is good

35
Q

What does a blue “GEN OFF BUS” light mean?

A

The Generator Breaker is open

36
Q

What items are powered by the engine accessory drive?

A

Fuel Pumps

N2 tachometer
Oil Pump
IDG/CSD
Starter
Engine Driven Hydraulic Pump
37
Q

When does the amber “TRANSFER BUS OFF” light illuminate?

A

The respected Transfer Bus is not powered

38
Q

When does the amber “SOURCE OFF” light illuminate?

A

Normal Source of power for the transfer bus is not powering that transfer bus

39
Q

When does the CROSS BUS TIE RELAY open?

A

It will open at GS capture with the Autopilot and or Flight Director in use. It opens to isolate the electrical system to prevent errors from carrying from one system to another.

40
Q

How long will the Battery last if all AC power is lost?

A

30 minutes and one APU start for the -800 (No guaranteed APU start for the -400)

41
