B-737 1 Step Prep (Fuel, Electric, Flight Controls) Flashcards
What happens when we put the Flight Control A switch into the Standby Rudder Position?
Stby Pump On
Open SRSOV (Standby Rudder Shutoff Valve)
Arms STBY Low Pressure Light
Position Indicating
What happens when we put the Flight Control B switch into the Standby Rudder Position?
Stby Pump On Open SRSOV (Standby Rudder Shutoff Valve) Arms STBY Low Pressure Light Position Indicating Yaw Damper (Powered by B System)
When do we use the Guarded Spoiler Switches?
We do not use those, they are for MX purposes only.
What are the 6 limitations of using the ALT. Flaps?
- Can not retract the LE Devices
- Limited to 230 Kts
- Flaps 15 landing
- Lose T.E. Flap asymmetry protection
- 15 second limitation upon releasing the switch
- 5 minute cycle limitation
When does the STANDBY HYDRAULIC amber “LOW QUANTITY” light illuminate?
Illuminates when STBY Hydraulic Reservior is below 50%. This is always armed.
When does the STANDBY HYDRAULIC amber “LOW PRESSURE” light illuminate?
Only arms when the STBY Hydraulic Pump is in operation and illuminates when the pump is exhibiting a low pressure condition.
When does the STANDBY HYDRAULIC amber “STBY RUD ON” light illuminate?
When the SRSOV is open and the FLT CONTROL (A or B) switch is in the STBY Rudder Position.
When does the amber “FEEL DIFF PRESS” light illuminate?
High differential pressure is measured by the elevator feel computer. The computer senses a large differential pressure between hydraulic system A & B.
When does the amber “SPEED TRIM FAIL” light illuminate?
If you have a Dual Channel failure of the FCC Computer system. Upon dual channel failure you will get a MASTER CAUTION and the SPEED TRIM FAIL light. If only a single channel fails you will only get a recall annunciation.
What does the SPEED TRIM system do?
Keeps us in a trimmed condition with the autopilot off
What conditions are required for the SPEED TRIM to operate?
A/S between 100 KIAS and M 0.50 10 Seconds after T/O 5 Seconds w/in release of TRIM SWITCH A/P must be disengaged Sensing of a Trim Requirement
When does the amber “MACH TRIM FAIL” light illuminate?
If you have a Dual Channel failure of the FCC Computer system. Upon dual channel failure you will get a MASTER CAUTION and the MACH TRIM FAIL light. If only a single channel fails you will only get a recall annunciation.
What does the MACH TRIM SYSTEM do?
It trims above 0.615 Mach to prevent Mach Tuck
What is the difference between SPEED TRIM and MACH TRIM?
Speed trim is a speed stability system to keep the aircraft in a trimmed condition, whereas the Mach Trim system is used to prevent Mach Tuch.
When does the amber YAW DAMPER light illuminate?
The Yaw Damper is disengaged.
What power source powers the Fuel Pumps?
AC Power
What is the power source for the Cross Feed?
DC Power
How do you begin crossfeed?
“LOW GLOW”-Make the low side tank pumps Glow by opening the crossfeed valve and then shut down the pumps on the low side (turns on low pressure lights). To stop the crossfeed, start the fuel pumps and then close the crossfeed.
Why do the center tanks burn first on the -800? -400?
On the -800 the Center Pumps have a higher output pressure.
On the -400 the Center Tanks have check valves that open at a lower pressure.
Will you get a MASTER CAUTION for a fuel pump low pressure light?
Not for a single low pressure light. You will only get a Master Caution for 2 low pressure lights in the same tank.
What happens when you pull the Fire Switch?
- Silence the Bell
- Arm Squibs
- Fuel/Spar Shutoff Closes
- Electric Generator Trips Off
- Hydraulic Shutoff Valve Closes
- Inhibits Hydraulic Low Pressure Light
- Disables Thrust Reverser
- Engine Bleed Valve Closes
What does the FILTER BYPASS amber light mean?
An impending fuel filter bypass likely due to contamination.
Should you crossfeed with a FILTER BYPASS light showing?
NO
What does an amber “BAT DISCHARGE LIGHT” mean?
Battery is experiencing an excessive discharge rate. This is commonly seen during an APU Start
