AVIT 414 Block 6 Flashcards
Aeronautical decision making
Systematic approach to the mental process used by pilots to consistently determine the best course of action in response to a given set of circumstances
Risk Management
Managing risks and making good decisions on the risks we will take
Task Management
Ensuring we don’t get task saturated and managing tasks
Situational awareness
Everything that is going on around you, looking for traffic, scanning instruments
Poor Judgment Chain
Series of mistakes that may lead to an accident
What are the different types of risk?
Total Risk Identified Risk Unidentified Risk Acceptable Risk Unacceptable Risk Residual Risk
What is total Risk
The sum of identified an unidentified risk
What is Identified Risk
Risk which has been determined through various analysis techniques. The first task of system safety is to identify, within practical limitations, all possible risks
What is Acceptable Risk
Part of identified risk that is allowed to persist without further action
What is Unacceptable Risk
Not okay with it. We can’t fly
What is Residual Risk
All the leftover risks that have not been accounted for
What Is the IMSAFE Checklist
Illness, Medication, Stress, Alcohol, Fatigue, Emotion
What is the Pave Model?
Personal, Aircraft, Environment, External pressures
What are the 3 P’s
Perceive, Process, Perform
What are the 3 P’s
Perceive the given set of circumstances for a flight
Process by evaluating the impact of those circumstances on flight safety
Perform by implementing the best course of action
