Avionics Flashcards
How is the information transferred?
Between avionics components information is transferred using multiplex data buses
Aircraft data bus system
Mil std 1553 B
ARINC 429
1553B
A+ B channel
Either can assume control
BC
Bus controller
Embedded computer on each bus
Performs diagnostic checks and message traffic on the bus
BBC
Which systems have BC and BCC?
Mission Buses
Communication buses
WACS bus
Four flight control bus has its own redundancy
Bus contention
BC and BBC both actively controlling bus traffic - may result in wap message . Components may shut down until sorted
RT?
Remote terminal
Forms comms link between avionics component and bus
Every component on 1553 has either a BC or a RT
Comms Buses
No.1&2 handle control signals of the comms components
If both buses fail
Only Com1 VHF/UHF works
Mission buses
Connect Mission system (mission computers) to mission components
Most of the components have one bus connection
The AFCS has inputs from mission bus 1 + 2
If both mission buses fail or both mission computers fail the MFD’s and HUDs are disabled
WACS
Single bus
Warning caution computers are used as the back up for the WACs
ARNIC 429
Used predominately for Eng stuff
MCK
Mission computer/ communication keyboard . Allows the transfer between the ARNIC and 1553B
