AVIATION TOPCS 01 Flashcards
What’s your favorite airport?
Well, certainly my favorite airport is Goiania, Goiania airport is located in the center of Brazil.
The airport has a one-long pavement runway with a controller tower.
In addition, the airport has departure and approach procedures, there is a medium terminal facility, and there are some hangars.
However, the controllers are very efficient.
Goiania has all the necessari support for safe operations.
Describe the last airport you operated.
As I can remember, the last airport I operated was in Congonhas SP, the airport has 2 pavement runways, Congonhas airport is used for commercial airlines and executes jets.
Moreover, the airport carries out depart and approach procedures.
The airport has a modern terminal with great facilities.
CGU provides all the necessary support for a safe operation.
What do you usually do before a flight?
Well, speaking broadly, I usually do before a flight,
Firstly - when I arrive at the airport I gather all the flight documents necessary after that I analyze the weather forecasting on my flight path, check the NOTAMS, and prepare my flight planning.
Secondly - I go to the airplane to undergo a preflight inspection in addition to setting the W&B and calculating the V1 V2 Vr on the FMS.
Then I wait for my passengers.
What are your obligation during cruise?
Well, as far as know the pilots have (the pilot has) many different responsibilities during the cruise, such as
Configure the autopilot and FMS navigation system.
Inadion verifies engine parameters and maintains communication with ATC.
Other than that check their remaining fuel, and make sure the airplane is following the correct flight path
Then, the pilot performs a
Checklist correctly and finally coordinate their approach time and procedures
What are your obligations after landing the airplane?
After landing, pilots have several important responsibilities to ensure the safe and efficient operation of the aircraft:
First of all, must vacate the runway immediately (rollout the runway) and taxi to the parking area or gate in addition to maintaining communication and following ATC instructions.
Once the aircraft arrives at the parking area, pilots go through a series of shutdown procedures. This involves shutting down the engines, shutting down various systems, and securing the aircraft to park.
How do pilots handle in-flight emergenies?
Well, in my point of view, the pilots handle in-flight emergencies
First of all, maintain a hight situation awareness and keep calm
In addition, perform the emergency checklist correctly
Secondly, inform the ATC about this problem and also carry on the flight if as possible.
Then landed as soon as possible in order to a flight safety
Those are some examples the pilots handle in-flight emergencies.
What was the first aircraft you flew?
Well as I can remember, the first aircraft I flew ( I had been flown) was an Aeroboero 115.
It has a low-wing, single-engine powered by a propeller. The aircraft is basic in addition to a taildrager with a land gear fixed.
The aircraft allows carrying up to two people seats in tandem, the pilot flying /student Pilot in the front seat and the pilot non-flying/ instructor pilot sitting in the rear.
Moreover, behind the rear seat, there is a cargo hold.
The aircraft is used for training or recreation.
The flight lasted one hour a local flight, the flight instructor showed me some maneuvers after landing taxied to the hangar, and performed a shutdown of the engine.
The weather was quite nice with claudnelless.
This flight was amazing.
How was your first solo flight?
Well, as I can remember, my first solo flight was amazing. But I didn’t expect it.
I carried out a flight with a pattern circuit and practiced some touch-and-go landing after that I taxied to the hangar, and performed a shutdown of the engine.
Finally, I celebrated this moment moreover I paid for a barbecue.
It was a milestone in my life
How was your first flight?
Well, as I can remember, my first flight was in Londrina, in 2008.
The flight lasted about one hour over Londrina City, I carried out some touch-and-go landings, and the flight instructor showed me maneuvers and procedures.
Taught me how to communicate with the controller.
After the final landing, we taxied to the hangar for a shutdown of the engine.
During the debriefing, the flight instructor talked about the aircraft and its limitations.
How was your first check-ride?
Well, as I can remember, my first checkride was in Londrina in 2008, was my private pilot license.
I had been flown (I was flying ) from Londrina to CP.
Was a cross country flight, I undergo some maneuvers and simulated lack of power emergency.
After that coming back to the Londrina airport I carry out some touch-and-go landing.
Once fully landed I taxied to the hangar and also performed a shutdown of the engine.
I was approved for the first check ride.
Than I got my pilot private license.
How was your last simulator session?
So, my last simulator session was once year ago in Tampa on the King Air 350 flight simulator.
As I can remember, I practiced many types of the emergencies, such as
Lack of thrust before and after V1,
Fire on the engine during the takeoff
in Addition fire in the cockpit, electrical failure, flaps failure.
Ever year I learner more, always improved the airman-ship and maintain a flight safe operation.
What was the best flight in your career?
As far as I know, the best flight in my career was when I had flown from Londrina to CP on my curse of the private pilot license. I was flying in CP for 2 hours because I grew up in this city.
This stuck in my mind, as I can remember I fell very happy.
Talking about the weather, it was quite nice and some clouds.
It´s was the best flight in my career.
What was the worst emergency in your career?
Well, once time, when I had been flown from Goiania to Jundiai, it was a Pilatus 12 when passing Fl180 abeam the Caldas Novas, the warning flash light of the loss of depressurization lit up, I stopped on this Fl and carried out a check list after that I informed this situation to ATC and requested to descent Fl 140 to continue the flight.
When arrived in Jundia the airplane thoroughly undergo inspection.
In your opinion, what is the worst Weather condition a pilot could face?
I think that the worst weather condition a pilot could face is a wind shear on final, this situation can be caused a structural damage, loss off controls however a crash.
Pilots must always avoid wind shear by alternate the airport or even a delay the flight.
What do you think about security at Brazilian airport ?
I guess that security is very good on the major international airports, we have x-ray scanners, metal detectors, sniffing dogs and security personnel.
The airports in Brazil follow the international standards operational in order to maintain a good safe operational.
How was your first solo flight?
My first solo flight was amazing, it was in Londrina in 2008, I had been flown an aeroboero 115, was local flight and lasted 45 minutes, I carried out some touch and go landings.
The weather was quite nice and some clouds
Once the full landing, I taxied to the hangar moreover I performed a shutdown the engines.
Finally I paid a barbecue to celebrate.
It was a milestone day on my life.
What will the aviation industry in Brazil be like in 10 years?
I guess that the aviation industry will change as much, traffic will grow a lot due to an increase in the number the aircraft.
In addition GPS and automation will be enhanced with technology improvements.
However, the cockpits will be more clean and touch screen.
Moreover, the communication between the pilot and ATC will be by CPDLC/DATA LINK
We might need bigger airports and terminal buildings
These are my predictions.
What are you doing to keep your flying skills up to date?
Well, as far as concerned, to keep my airmanship, I carry out simulator training once a year moreover I study very hard the regulations and laws are always being updated
So, I basically, study, fly and train as much as I can.
Tell me about your aviation history.
Well, as I can remember,
I starter in Londrina in 2008 with private pilot courses than only 2009 I got my commercial pilot license.
In 2010 I flew a seneca, barron, king Air, as a first officer.
My first aircraft as a captain was a RV 10 in 2010.
After that in 2013 until 2016 I had been flown a Caravan PC 12 as a captain.
Nowadays I have been flying a King air 350 as a captain a private corporate.
Tell me about your aviation history.
My aviation career started in 2009 in São Paulo with my private and commercial pilot’s flight training in a Cessna 152, it took me 3 years to get my commercial pilot’s license. After that, I got my first job only in 2014 where I had the opportunity to fly a King air as a First officer, I’ve worked there for 2 years flying around Brazil and in 2016 I joined my current company. Today I’m a copilot in an Airline and I fly an Airbus.
What was the first aircraft that you flew?
From what I can remember, the first aircraft I flew was a Cessna 152. It’s a single engine propeller airplane, with a tricycle and fixed landing gear, it has high wings with supports. Its structure is very basic and it has capacity for 2 people. This airplane is very simple, with only the basic instruments and its cruise speed is around 85 knots. It has maximum altitude of about 12.000ft with a 5-hour endurance. It’s mostly used for flight training and recreation.
How can fatigue affect a pilot’s performance?
well, In my point of view, fatigue is very dangerous for a pilot’s such as
Reduce the situational awareness the pilot,
The pilots could also commit a mistake in the aircraft’s configuration, however forget a checklist,
Misunderstand the controller’s instructions.
Those are some examples on how fatigue can affect a pilot’s performance.
Companies should always have some guidelines to minimize fatigue within their crew members.
Tell me about your most memorable flight
Well, from what I can remember the most memorable flight was in 2008, during my private pilot training it was a cross country flight from Londrina to CP, I was flying (I had been flown) an aeroboero the weather was quite nice no clouds.
I flew over in CP 45 minutes ind addition I carried out some touch and go landings on the airfield.
Its was a milestone on my life, because I grew up in CP.
What are the differences between GPS and the Inertial System?
I know that the GPS is based on satellite triangulation and it’s a very modern and accurate navigation system, it’s used on modern airplanes, today this is the main navigation system used by airlines around the world.
ON THE OTHER HAND,
The Inertial system is usually calibrated on the ground and it’s our backup system, it’s good but it’s not as precise as the GPS. In some cases, we can use the GPS to calibrate the Inertial system.
