Explain what is meant by “Aviation Medicine”
The Study of the effects and consequences of pacing a person in an aviation environment
Origin of human factors
Arose originally out of aircraft accident investigations, in particular from the rising number of accidents where no obvious technical failure could be found.
What is human factors
Human factors are aspects of being human, such as our ability to process information, make decisions, communicate and adapt to situations, that either help or hinder people perform their jobs safely.
Why is knowledge of human factors necessary for safe flight
we can correctly recognize potential human factors and address them before they develop into a problem or create a chain of problems that result in an accident or incident.
Define crew resource management
CRM is the effective use of all resources, hardware, software and liveware to achieve a safe and efficient flight operation
Define safety culture
An ongoing process of intellectual and practical achievement directed at eliminating all unsafe attitudes and practises
