What does secondary memory contain?
Holds OS + data not in use
What does tertiary memory contain?
Backups
archiving lots of data
slow, large and cheap
Give some examples of primary memory
RAM, ROM, registers, cache
Give some examples of secondary memory
SSD, HDD, flash drive, CD
What is RAM?
fast access, volatile. instructions+programs in use
What is ROM?
can’t be changed
contains essential information for the computer to operate (Bootstrap, BIOS, POST)

Bootstrap pulls the OS into RAM
What is BIOS?
Basic Input and Output System
