Q

Characteristics of the ANS?

A
  • Involuntary divisions of the nervous system that consist of motor neurons (autonomic neurons) that conduct impulses to cardiac muscle, smooth muscle, and glands.
  • It’s a two-neuron pathway: preganglionic neuron cell body is located in CNS and synapses with a ganglionic neuron in the PNS. A postganglionic fiber terminates on the effector organ.
