Q

Parasympathetic vs Sympathetic

A

Parasympathetic: Energy Conserving, use acetylcholine
Sympathetic: Blood to muscle, bronchodilation, cardiac stimulation, use noradrenaline

A

Generally consider two.

Noradrenaline and Acetylcholine. Produced pre and post synaptically.

Q

Noradrenaline Neurtransmitters

A

Are Adrenoreceptors

  • a1: sympathetic activations. Increase BP (vasoconstriction, but reflex is slowing HR)
  • a2: Reduces sympathetic activity, decreases BP, inhibits noradrenaline release.
  • b1: Cardiac stimulants. Rate/Force. Prevent sympathetic induced bronchodilation.
  • b2: Relaxes bronchial smooth muscle, leading to bronchodilation.
