Autonomic Pharmacology Flashcards
1
Q
Mimetics vs Lytics
A
- mimetics = Drugs that mimic
- lytics = Drugs that impair
2
Q
Parasympathetic vs Sympathetic
A
Parasympathetic: Energy Conserving, use acetylcholine
Sympathetic: Blood to muscle, bronchodilation, cardiac stimulation, use noradrenaline
3
Q
Neurotransmitters
A
Generally consider two.
Noradrenaline and Acetylcholine. Produced pre and post synaptically.
4
Q
Acetylcholine Neurotransmitter
A
Postganglionic, ganglia
5
Q
Noradrenaline Neurtransmitters
A
Are Adrenoreceptors
- a1: sympathetic activations. Increase BP (vasoconstriction, but reflex is slowing HR)
- a2: Reduces sympathetic activity, decreases BP, inhibits noradrenaline release.
- b1: Cardiac stimulants. Rate/Force. Prevent sympathetic induced bronchodilation.
- b2: Relaxes bronchial smooth muscle, leading to bronchodilation.
