Auriculotherapy: Landmarks Flashcards
Ear Center (LM 0)
distinct notch at the central most position of the ear -where the Concha meets the Helix Root
Helix Insertion (LM 1)
region where the Helix Root separates from the face -and crosses over the Inferior Crus of the AntiHelix
Apex of the Helix (LM 2)
most superior point of the ear -vertically superior to Ear Center (LMO)
Superior Darwin’s Tubercle (LM 3)
centrally protruding notch immediately superior to the Auricular Tubercle, dividing Darwin’s Tubercle from the Superior Helix above it ~Not everyone has this
Inferior Darwin’s Tubercle (LM 4)
centrally protruding notch immediately inferior to the Auricular Tubercle, dividing Darwin’s Tubercle from the Helix Tail below it -on the more peripheral surface there is a crevice in the cartilage which separates the Superior Helix from the Helix Tail ~not everyone will have this
Helix Curve (LM 5)
vertical Helix Tail curves centrally and inferiorly toward the Lobe
Lobular- Helix Notch (LM 6)
subtle notch where the Lobe meets the cartilaginous tissue of the inferior Helix Tail -made of soft fleshy tissue
Base of Lobe (LM 7)
most inferior point of the Lobe -is a vertical line connecting the Apex of the Helix to the Ear Center to Base of Lobe
Lobular Insertion (LM 8)
most inferior point of the Lobe that attaches the face to the jaw -this landmark is more variable in relative location than all other landmarks ->ex. in some this landmark is inferior to Base of Lobe in others the this landmark is superior to the Base of Lobe
Inter-Tragic Notch (LM 9)
curving notch which divides Tragus from the AntiTragus
Inferior Tragus Protrusion (LM 10)
protruding knob on the lower Tragus -opposite to the top of the AntiTragus
Superior Tragus Protrusion (LM 11)
protruding knob on the upper Tragus -opposite to the Helix Root
AntiTragus Protrusion (LM 12)
protruding knob at the base of the “Inverted L” of the curving ridge of the AntiTragus -superior to the Lobe
Apex of AntiTrgaus (LM 13)
protruding knob at base of the “inverted L” of the curving ridge of the AntiTragus -opposite of AntiTragus Protrusion
Base of AntiHelix (LM 14)
round knob at the base of the AntiHelix Tail which divides the AntiTragus from the AntiHelix Tail -rises above the AntiTragal- AntiHelix Groove
