Augmented Feedback_PL Flashcards
Term: Information available about one’s movement that is available through one’s one sensory channels
Inherent (Intrinsic) Feedback
Term: This is information provided about the movement in addition to inherent feedback. Can be verbalized/lends itself to being verbalized
Augmented (extrinsic) feedback
Term: Information about movement outcome related to the environmental goal. Not feedback about the quality of the movement itself
Knowledge of Results (KR) [Outcome]
Term: provides information about the movement pattern after a movement was performed. Tends to be more descriptive
Knowledge of performance (KP) [Quality]
Term: the time b/t the time the movement ends and KR is provided
KR Delay
Term: The time b/t whe KR is provided until the beginning of the next movement
Post-KR Delay
Term: Augmented feedback provided the instant the performance is complete. (As soon as your client completes a task, you provide feedback
Instantaneous feedback
Describe the types of KR Delay that are not good for learning
Extremely short KR Delay
Extremely long KR Delay
Term: Augmented feedback provided during the movement. Typically visual
Concurrent feedback
Describe why concurrent feedback is not good for learning
- The performer attends more to the feedback than the task
- The learner may become dependent on the feedback
Term: encouraging the learner to estimate or evaluate their own error during the KR Dleay
Error estimation
**Can improve learning (only helpful if accompanied by KR)
Describe the effect of short Post-KR delay
Can interfere with learning. The learner needs time to plan and generate a new movement based on the KR
Describe the importance of the Precision of KR
Precise KR is better than qualitative KR for learning
However, too precise KR is not helpful
Term: the number of trials of practice that are followed by KR
absolute frequency
Term: the percentage of trials that are followed by KR
relative frequency
