Correct for “Light Train”
A. If possible, communications link w/FD Unit on “Light Train” should be est prior to authorizing use
B. Progress report from “Light Train” transmitted ASAP, but at least once every 20 minutes
C. If deemed necessary, Chief in charge may board “Light Train.” Another BC should be special called to coordinate ops
D. Off of unit boarding “Light Train” shall direct Chauffeur to respond to location where unit will disembark the train

A. CIC must assure a communications link with the FD Unit on the “Light Train” before authorizing its use. If a communications link cannot be established, the “Light Train” is not to be used.

Incorrect for subway relay
A. HT communications are poor from level to level and in a straight line are fair to poor
B. Eng and Truck can setup a relay w/2-6 FFs. Members who are part of the relay must maintain their position throughout operation until relieved by IC
C. If token clerk booth w/in 50 yards of stairs to street, LCC should contact train dispatcher through clerk. There is a telephone in token clerk’s booth
D. In HT relay, Eng Off should be located approx 50’ from stairs on platform for relay

Incorrect for Dual Power System Train
A. Dual powered may be supplied simultaneously by Overhead Catenary Lines, usually 11,000 Volts AC, and ground level 3rd rail 660 Volts DC
B. OIC requesting power off from Dual Power must communicate to ensure power removed from both power systems for all affected tracks
C. Once power removed from Catenary lines, members must be alert that there still remains a static electrical current in such lines.
D. Verification that Catenary lines power removed shall only be made via FD Dispatcher
D Verification overhead lines are safe, after power has been reported removed, is made by RR electricians employing special equipment and techniques at the site of ops. Such RR electricians at the site of ops can re-affirm to the OIC that the static currents have also been removed
Incorrect Subway communications
A. 1st Chief determines if TA Rep needed. If so, have Dispatcher notify TA Dispatcher and request “Transit Supervisor” w/exact location of FD Cmd Post
B. BC operating in tunnel, have TA Police or employee w/TA portable radio be assigned w/BC in tunnel. Radio can communicate w/Desk Super and relay via telephone to Boro Comm Office
C. Off at blue light phone can contact Desk Super and request to relay blue light phone number to FD Dispatcher who shall relay number to BC. BC can then have token booth telephone used to call blue light phone to contact Off
D. Chief can use cell phone from street to contact Blue Light phone, which is preferable over using token booth telephone

Metrocard lost by unit during a fire/emergency correct
A. Metro cards are req’d be checked daily at 0900 roll call only
B. OOD immediately notifies PTSU of particulars, ID# of Metrocard, and ensures deactivation
C. OOD shall file police report and complete Lost Property Report including Metrocard ID # on all reports
D. Police and Lost Property Report fwd to PTSU requesting replacement card be issued

Light Train correct (3)
A. Captain as the IC can decide to use Light Train based on initial size up
B. Primary source of communications is for FD to have direct use of Train Conductor’s radio, as it is only reliable means of comm on train
C. Train Conductor’s radio is removable and will operate from any Train Conductor’s compartment
D. Power removal requested, TA will notify FD Unit on Light Train directly and Chief via Dispatcher when power confirmed off

Subway Vent fans correct (2)
A. Most fan plants have 2 fans. Plants serving URT may have up to 4 fans

1) Each Metrocard has an expiration date and is ID w/a unique number assigned by the MTA NYC Transit
2) Daily, the OOD shall record an entry in the Co Jrl stating Metrocard is accounted for and on the rig
3) Metrocard reported lost, stolen or damaged, the OOD shall immediately notify the Admin BC
4) OOD shall file a PD report and complete a loss property report and fwd via the Ch of Cmd to Ch of Dept
