What is sustained attention?
The ability to remain focused and alert for long periods of time
What is selective attention?
When greater attention is given to what appears to be the most important sources
What is divided attention?
Most common in work situations
Required to do more than one thing at the same time, one task suffers in expense of another
What is focused attention?
Focusing on a single source and avoiding distractions
What is perception?
Interpretation of sensory data in order to make it meaningful, discarding non-relevant data
The process if assembling sensations to a useable mental representation of the world

The storage and retention of information, experiences and knowledge, as well as the ability to retrieve information

The synthesis of an accurate and up to date mental model of ones environment and state and the ability to use this to make predictions of possible future states
