Q

Explain limitations of Bowlby’s theory on maternal deprivation (not his 44 thieves experiment but his theory)

A

Koluchova challenged Bowlby’s theory that effects of maternal deprivation are permenant and irreversible.

2 Czech twin brothers experienced extreme maternal deprivation (mum died, step mother severely neglected them: kept in small unheated cellar, starved, beaten, isolated) and experienced privation.

After being rescued they were placed in loving nurturing foster home. By teenage years, they completely recovered showing normal intellectual and social development.
