What is a strength?(Meta-analysis)
Study is a meta-analysis, meaning there is a large sample therefore increasing validity.
What is a weakness?(Closed)
Infants from Isreal lived in a closed community and didnt come into contact with strangers. This could be why they became severely distressed and thus classed as resistant.
What is another weakness?(Mothers)
All studies measured attachment to mother. Infant may be securely attached to father not mother. Therefore is testing their attachment to an individual - not their attachment style
What did they find?
- Secure was the most common type of attachment in all countries
- Lowest % of secure was in China
- Highest % of secure was in UK
- Overall variations were 1.5x greater within cultures than between cultures
