ATS Flashcards
ATS
each state is required to set up an authorative body that is responsible for regulating
doc 4444
PANS ATM
ICAO pubblish
estabilish and managment of ATS
is mainly direct to ATM person
Objective
prevent collision of a/c in ground or in air
mantain an overflow of air traffic
provide advice and information
notify organization when required
ATS division
ATC
Flight information service
Alerting service
ATC service
Area Control Service
Approach control service
areodrome control service
ATS managment
type of traffic
density of traffic
meteo condition
other factor
ATC applicability
service: provide in controlled airspace controlle areodromes always provice in IFR in CAS VFR only in B, C, D always for SVFR flights
ATS unit
ATS unit
ATCU -> provide Air traffic control
FIC(Flight Info Center) -> give flight information
ATCU
Ground control
Approach Control
Area control
Area Control
ATC to en route traffic
provided by Area Control Centre (usually geogr prefix)
Approach control
ATC controll flight associated with arrival and departure
it is usually in a CTR
provicde by Approach Control Office(usually in the control tower)
Combined approach control offices -> provide control for multiple aredoromes or CTR
Aredrome Control
ATC to aredrome traffic @ controlled aredrome
provided by aredrome control tower
Ground control
control the ground movement of a/c and veihcles
responability of aredrome controller, may be delagate to ground control that can delegate to apron in major aredromes
time
UTC check before taxi
accurancy +- 30 s UTC
ATC clearance
authorisation of A/c to proceed under condition specify by ATCU
clearance purpose
separating air traffic
- based on know traffic confition
- if recieved clearance is unsuitable
- alternative clerance can be request
- alternative will be offerend if available but may result in delay
- must be issued in due time to comply
clearacne application
in CAS - IFR always separate to IFR class B - C - IFR separated from VFR class B only - VFR separated from VFR
standard format include
Identification Clearance limit route of the flight allcoated level other istruction(SID,STAR, expire time) transition level clearance QNH
cooordination
the responsability to usee a route clearance with ACC of the FIR wchich the flight originates
- ATCU would ideally coordinate with all ACC en route( no way)
- ACC will issue a cleracne limited to original FIR
- A/c will give a clearance from FIR to FIR
readback
ATC route clearance runways related altimetry ssr codes level heading and speed transition level
ATFM
Air traffic Flow Managment Traffic load can be prewdicted by modern data proccessing flight planning repetitive flight
in case of traffic ACC can give a restriction and delay
Control person and veichle
movement on the manouvring area must be controlled
by aredrome controller to avoid hazard
in low visibility minimum movement special procedure to safeguard sensitive area priority - emergency - a/c land taxi t/o vech towing vich other veich
FIS
flight information service is the basic unit of airspace within a state is the FIR FIR can exist without CAS provide : - FIS - Alerting service Inside CAS where ATC is provided FIS ha a lower priority
FIS
Flight Information Service
Provide flight information outside CAS and at uncontrolled areodromes
Operate from FIC
Licensed to provide the serviece
not permitted to do as ATC
FIS Operation
Flight information is provided to all air traffic that is likelu to be affected by information
A/c provided with ATC service
A/c otherwise know to ATC
Provide info as SIGMET and AIRMET
Ofis
Operational Flight information service
VOLMET( HF - VHF)
ATIS
ATIS
discrete VHF maybe tx in VOR never ILS continuos broadcast normal 1 single aredrome not more than 30 sec update immediate cloude below 5000' or highest MSA or CB present
