Approach Control Service within CAS - what shall ATCU provide?

A

Approach control services to aircraft according to class of airspace within which aerodrome is located from a time and place at which:
✈️arriving aircraft are released by area until control is transferred to aerodrome
✈️aircraft approaching from outside CAS place themselves under control until control transferred to Aerodrome
✈️departing aircraft taken over from aerodrome until:
1) transferred to Area
2) they are clear of CAS and separated from any other IFR flights receiving Approach control service from that unit.

A

Approach control services to aircraft as determined by the Aerodrome Operator and approved by the CAA,
From the time and place at which:
✈️arriving aircraft place themselves under control until control transferred to aerodrome
✈️departing aircraft are taken over from aerodrome until:
1) they no longer wish to receive a service
2) they are 10mins flying time away from aerodrome, whichever sooner
✈️overflying aircraft place themselves under control until:
1) they no longer wish to receive service
2) they are 10mins flying time away from aerodrome, whichever is sooner

A

What is a Procedural service?

A

A service where in addition to the provisions of a basic service controller provides:
Restrictions
Instructions
Approach clearances
Which if complied with will archive deconfliction minima against other aircraft participating in the PS.

Only provided to flights under IFR irrespective of meteorological conditions.

Remember! Class G pilots still have to see and avoid other unknown aircraft.

A

Information issued by a controller to alert a pilot or controller to other known or observed air traffic which may be in proximity to the position or intended route of the flight.

Passed and traffic avoidance given to a/c on any occasion that a controller considers it necessary in the interests of safety.

A

A service provided to notify appropriate organisations regarding aircraft in need of search and rescue aid and assist such organisations as required.
