Atropine; Mechanism of action
A
Parasympatholytic: inhibits action of acetylcholine at postganglionic parasympathetic neuroeffector sites. (Increases conduction over the AV node)
Increases heart rate in life threatening bradydysrhythmias

A
1st line drug for Hemodynamically significant bradycardia
Drug of choice for organophosphate poisoning
Bronchospastic pulmonary disorders

Atropine; Dosage and administration
A
(Adult) Bradydysrhythymias: 0.5-1mg IV every 3-5 min to a max total dose of 0.04mg/kg
(Pedi) Bradydysrhythymias: 0.02mg/kg IV/ IO (minimum single dose of 0.1mg, Max single dose of 1mg)
