Atrial fibrillation/flutter - arrhythmias Flashcards
1
Q
What is atrial flutter classified as?
A
SVT
2
Q
What can be seen on an ECG indicating atrial flutter?
A
sawtooth p waves
3
Q
What is fast AF?
A
untreated AF
4
Q
What is slow AF?
A
AF treated with digoxin (blocks AVN)
–> slows ventricular response to AF
- reduces symptoms of breathlessness, weak pulse etc
5
Q
What are the complications of AF
A
stagnant blood in the atria –> forms clots
–> when atria do contract (randomly) blood clot may embolise to the brain –> stroke
