Atrial Dysrhythmia Flashcards
What causes atrial dysrhythmia?
An ectopic impulse in atrium that overides SA node occurs from conditions that causes pressure in atria
syncope
passing through
Define ectopic beat
myocardial cell that generates electricity that overides SA node (PAC/PVC)
What would a normal rhythm be called when there is a premature atrial contraction present? What is the morphology of the PAC?
rhythm: regular with PAC
early complex pwave : early beat may be flattened or unusual
What does PAC stand for?
Premature atrial contractions
What are some PAC symptoms?
low cardiac output frequency is related to severity of patient’s complaints frequency may indicate flutter
Define trigeminy.
pattern in which every third complex is a premature beat
Define bigeminy
every second complex is a premature beat
What is WAP?
pacemaker shift between SA node, atria and AV junction
P wave configuration changes in appearance
What is uniquely in WAP?
p wave configuration with at least 3 variations in one lead
What rhythm is MAT frequently mistaken as?
Atrial fibrillation
Flutter
is the cutter
ectopic focus may originate from ischemic areas causes a loop myocardium
can happen in atria or in ventricle
Name 3 symptoms to low cardiac output
- fatigue
- dizzy
- pale
Describe atrial fibrillation
- multiple atrial activity recorded as chaotic wave
- R-R is irregular
- PR interval cannot be identified
- described as quivering
- lead to stroke if not on blood thinners
What is a major health risk for patients with a fib?
Thrombus formation and embolism due to blood collecting in atria
