What is the coupled reaction
A
ATP is broken down into:
1. ADP + P + ENERGY
- PC ——creating kinase = P + C + ENERGY

What are the advantages of the ATP-PC system
A
- doesn’t require oxygen therefore ATP can be replenished quickly
- PC stores are recovered very quickly = 50 percent in 30 seconds and 100 percent in 3 minutes
- consuming coffee which contains creatine can extend the ATP-PC system

What are the disadvantages of ATP-PC system
A
- phosphocreatine runs out quickly - only a limited supply lasting 10 seconds
- only one molecule of ATP can be produced at a time
- PC only replenished in the presence of oxygen
