Atomic Therory Flashcards
What is an atom?
An atom is the smallest particle of an element that retains the properties of that element.
Fun Fact: All atoms are made up of three kinds of small particles called subatomic particles.
What is an electron?
An electrons are negatively charged particles surrounding the atomic nucleus.
What is a neutron?
A neutron is an uncharged particle in the atomic nucleus.
What is the nucleus?
The nucleus is the positively charged centre of an atom, which contains protons and neutrons.
What is a proton?
A proton is a positively charged particle in the atomic number.
What is a subatomic particle?
A subatomic particles are particles such as protons, neutrons and electrons that are smaller than atoms.
