Atomic Structure and the Periodic Table: Group 0 (DONE) Flashcards
What is another name for “Group 0”?
Another name for “Group 0” is the noble gases.
Why are group 0 elements so unreactive?
Group 0 elements are so unreactive as they all have a full outer shell. Meaning they are stable and will not react.
Describe the boiling points of group 0 elements.
All the noble gases have boiling points lower than room temperature. This explains why they are all gases at room temperature.
What happens to the boiling points as we go down the group 0 elements?
As we go down the group 0 elements the boiling points increases.
Why do the boiling points increase as we go down group 0?
The boiling points of the noble gases increase as we go down the group as the relative atomic mass also increases. So the energy needed is greater.
