Atomic Structure Flashcards

1
Q

What happened on the alpha scattering experiment?

A

Thomson fires a beam of alpha particles at thin gold foil
Expected particles to pass straight through or only slightly deflected
- however domes were deflected back
Made them realise most of the mass was concentrated in the centre (nucleus)
