- Breast tenderness

- Urinary Frequency (1st and 3rd)
How can we help women decrease the probability of getting UTIs during pregnancy?
- Consume plenty of fluids
- Wipe from front to back
- Avoid bubble baths
- Avoid tight fitting pants
Constipation usually occurs during the 2nd or 3rd trimester, how can we educate the client about this?
- Drink plenty of water
- Eat fiber
- Exercise
How can we educate the client to differentiate between Braxton Hicks contractions vs real contractions?
- Braxton Hicks contractions should improve while changing positions or walking
- If contractions increase in intensity and frequency, they are true contractions and client should call provider
A client is in her 1st trimester. She experiences abdominal cramping and/or vaginal bleeding. What can this indicate?
- Miscarriage
- Ectopic pregnancy
This is danger signs during pregnancy
- Blurred vision
- Severe headaches
- Edema of face and hands
All are indicative of what warning signs?
Gestational hypertension/Preeclampsia
Client is in her second/third trimester. Her breath smells of acetone/fruity. What can this be?
Hyperglycemia / Gestational Diabetes
Feelings of ambivalence are experienced during the first trimester. What does this mean?
Feeling of ambivalence is when the mother feels unsure or conflicting feelings about the pregnancy. This is normal.
