Q

What do comms satellites do
what orbit
motion of them
as a result of this motion

A

beam radio, tv, and other signals from one part of earth to another

Normally in the geostationary orbit

Motion matches earths rotation so its like they are stationary relative to the ground

thats why dish aerials dont have to track the satellites, but can j be pointed in a fixed direction

Q

Where do monitoring satellites orbit

why?

A

Low earth orbit (Leo) - pass over north and south poles. As earth rotates they can scan the whole surface

eg weather satellites
