describe the treatment stepping stones for athsma.
SABA
SABA + ICS
SABA + ICS + LABA
SABA + ICS + LABA + other therapy
other therapy: leukotriene receptor antagonist, theophylline, prednisolone, LAMA
Then if still no adequate control then consider daily oral steroid on top of other medications.
what does SABA stand for?
short acting b2 antagonists
what inhalers are relievers and what are preventers?
relievers = SABA preventers = ICS & LABA
what is the most common type of ICS?
beclomethasone
what type of inhaler is Fostair?
Fostair is a LAMA
(ICS + Long acting B2 antagonist)
It contains beclomethasone with formoterol
what can occur as a complication of abrupt cessation from oral steroid if taken for >3 weeks?
