What is asphyxia?
(Suffocation) a condition arising when the body is deprived of oxygen.
It is caused by blocked airways and breathing
What is cardiac arrest?
When the heart has stopped pumping blood around the body. The heart may have stopped all together or twitching in a completely irregular way.
There is no circulation of blood.
It is caused by lack of oxygen
What is the CPR flowchart?
Unresponsive and not breathing properly
Call 999/ 112 and ask for ambulance and defibrillator (AED)
30 chest compressions
2 rescue breaths
Continue cpr 30:2
As soon as defib arrives, use it

What is anaphylaxis, its symptoms and how do you treat it?

Treated using an adrenaline auto-injector

Describe the how to treat choking
Assess the severity
If it is mild- (effective cough) encourage coughing and check for ineffective cough
If it is severe- (ineffective cough)
If they are conscious do 5 back blows, 5 abdominal thrusts and then ask for an ambulance and defibrillator if they are unsuccessful
If they are or go unconscious, start CPR

One short blast- calls for attention of a pool user

R- Rest the affected limb or joint
I- Ice pack as soon as possible to reduce swelling
C- Comfortable position and support
E- Elevation of the affected area to reduce swelling
