Things to consider when doing a physical assessment
Head to toe
look at symmetry
Assess area of acute injury first

What is the proper technique for assessing? What is the exception to this?
Inspect, palpate, percussion,auscultation
The abdomen you would auscultate before you palpate
When inspecting the body what are you looking for?
Size, shape, position, symmetry, color, abnormalities
When palpating what are you checking for ?
Temperature, Moisture, texture and turgor, swelling ,tenderness
WHen using a stethoscope what is the difference between the bell and diaphragm.
Diaphragm- used to listen to high pitched sounds
Bell -soft low pitched sounds
What should you consider when auscultating
Have quiet room
warm stethoscope
Never listen through a gown
Avoid touching the tubing
What is the babinski reflex?
normal infants
upside down J and their toes flare out
