Aspro Tablet Experiment questions Flashcards
Describe the trend seen in the data
The trend in the data suggests that as the temperature increases, the dissolving time for the Aspro tablets decreases in a linear fashion.
Evaluate the reliability of your experiment
This is experiment is highly reliable as multiple trials were conducted for each temperature, all yielding consistent results
Evaluate the validity of your experiment
This experiment is moderately reliable as the aim was clearly addressed, in which the a distinct relationship between temperature and the dissolving time for Aspro tablets was determined. However, the variables were not controlled to a high degree- temperature deviated multiple times (i.e set to 20 degrees, but lowers to 18 degrees).
What can be done to improve the experiment?
- Control all variables (find a way to keep the temperature constant, stopwatch is different because 2 were digital and 1 was handheld)
Identify the Independent variable
Temperature
Identify the dependant variable
Dissolving time for aspro tablets
Controlled variables
- Same amount of water
- Type/brand of tablet
- Same thermometer
Justify the omission of a control
A control tests the validity of an experiment by excluding the independent variable. However a control cannot exist for this experiment because temperature is unable to be eliminated.
Explain the trend seen in the data
Higher temperature causes faster dissolving. This is because the Aspro tablets gain more kinetic energy, thus causing water particles to vibrate faster and move around the beaker. As they quickly move around the beaker,
