aspects of SDGs Flashcards
SDG 1 aspects
reduce number of ppl living in poverty
eradicate extreme poverty globally
- thru implementing nationally appropriate social protection systems like welfare payments, more parent may be able to send their kids to school where they can improve their ability to display resilience (emotional H+W)
SDG 2 aspects
end hunger globally
end all forms of malnutrition
achievement of SDG 2 is associated with increased agricultural productivity allowing governments to shift their funding from horticulture demands to other needs like building safer roads. this can work to reduce deaths and injuries from road accidents thus reducing non-communicable diseases
achieving SDG 3 is associated with the reduction of global maternal mortality which allows more women to seek employment and put their incomes back into their family by purchasing nutritious foods, assisting to end all forms of malnutrition (SDG 2)
SDG 4 aspects
ensure all girls + boys complete free and quality education at all levels
build and upgrade education facilities
eliminate gender disparities in education (more girls can go school…)
increase number of qualified teachers
when gender disparities are eliminated more girls are able to attend school instead of being forced into marriage thereby assisting to reduce the likelihood of girls having kids before they’re biologically ready in turn reducing maternal mortality (SDG 3)
if preventable deaths of children under 5 are ended then more children may be nurtured and eventually sent to school where they can promote adequate literacy and numeracy skills needed for future employment (SDG 4)
SDG 5 aspects
eliminate all forms of violence against all women + girls (trafficking)
ensure universal access to reproductive health (birth control)
ensure equal rights for control over land or finances
achieving SDG 5 is associated with the elimination of all forms of violence against women and girls including preventing sex trafficking. as a result, fewer women and girls may be forced into laborious tasks like prostitution thus working to end epidemics of communicable diseases like HIV (SDG 3)
achieving SDG 3 is associated with reducing deaths and injuries caused by road traffic accidents allowing the government to shift their focus towards promoting equal opportunities for girls and women at all levels of like such as in employment thus achieving SDG 5
SDG 6 aspects
achieve access to adequate sanitation and hygiene like public showers
achieve universal access to safe + affordable drinking water
ensure sustainable access to clean water
achieving SDG 3 is associated with ending preventable deaths of children under 5 meaning that more children may be able to grow up and go to school where they learn about the importance of upholding quality sanitary practises like frequent hand washing (SDG 6)
SDG 13 aspects
improve education on climate change
integrate climate related measures into national policy + planning so rainfall patterns may be more effectively predicted so farmers can grow fruitful crops leading to food security and less likely to experience malnutrition thus working towards ending preventable deaths of newborns (SDG 3)
achievement of SDG 3 is associated with strengthening the prevention of substance abuse like tobacco. the production of tobacco contributes to the greenhouse gas effect so reducing demand for tobacco products and reducing its atmospheric emissions can help in addressing the effect of climate change (SDG 13)
