Asexual Reproduction Flashcards
Identical division of the cell nucleus.
Mitosis
The process of a parent cell diving into two daughter cells with identical chromosomes and DNA.
Cell division
Division of the cytoplasm, another stage of cell division
Cytokinesis
A stage in cell division where the cell is doing normal metabolic activities.
Interphase
The series of events of which a cell divides, known as IPMAT.
Cell cycle
First phase of mitosis, where chromosomes become visible and double.
Prophase
Process where chromosomes line up in the middle of a cell.
Metaphase
Process where chromatids begin to separate from each other.
Anaphase
Chromosomes lose shape and visibility, and two identical cells are formed when the membrane pinches.
Telophase
Visible genetic material, used to compose cells.
Chromosomes
Two identical strands of chromosomes, most visible during anaphase.
Sister chromatids
Thin, disorganised genetic material.
Chromatin
Uncontrolled cell growth, unable to receive or accept normal cell regulation
Cancer
Process where a parent cell created two identical daughter cells.
Asexual reproduction
Process in which DNA copies itself for cell division
DNA replication
