Q

how do you streak a plate using aseptic technique?

A
  1. sterilise the loop in the Bunsen burner until it turns red
  2. let the loop cool and take an isolated colony from the agar plate
  3. spread the isolated colony on the first quadrant of the petri dish
  4. put the loop and pack away
  5. flame the loop and pack away
  6. incubate the plate for 24 hrs

Q

what is the cauliflower cloning method?

A
  1. place forceps in sterilise solution called SDICN
  2. clean the bench and wipe area
  3. collect a cauliflower and place it on a petri, using a scalpel and cut it into a smaller part
  4. put the cauliflower in a jar. every 2-3 mins, swirl the jar gently. repeat for 15 mins
  5. strain the liquids and put the cauliflower into a agar growth medium
  6. label the petri dish and incubate in a warm lab
