Q

What happened in Shay’s Rebellion and why did it happen?

A

America needed to pay back France and the Netherlands because they also helped defeat the British in the Revolutionary War. The farmers also fought because they were supposed to be paid (they were never paid) Congress needed money to pay so they asked the people to pay. The people didn’t have money so the farmers got taxed even though they didn’t have money. So farmers got mad and rebelled. They freed debt prisoners and shut down courts that went against farmers.
