Q

Describe fibrous joints

A
  • Bones joined by fibrous connective tissue
  • Designed for stability
  • Examples: Sutures - between flat bones of skull, Gomphosis - between teeth and bony sockets,
Syndesmosis - all other fibrous joints

Q

Describe cartilanginous joints

A
  • Bones joined by cartilage
  • Designed for stability
  • 2 subclasses:
    • Symphysis - fibrocartilage, eventaully ossify with age, pelvic symphysis, mandibular symphysis, IV discs
