l’art religieux

Le terme d’art roman (Romanesque) définit, en histoire de l’art, la période qui s’étend du début du xie siècle jusqu’à la seconde moitié du xiie siècle, entre l’art préroman et l’art gothique.

Il est forgé en 1818 par l’archéologue français Charles de Gerville et passe dans l’usage courant à partir de 1835.
