What is IVF?
The fertilisation of eggs outside the body, in a lab before transferring the embryo to the mother’s uterus
What is Clomifene therapy?
The use of the drug clomifene to stimulate FSH and LH release in a woman to stimulate egg maturation and ovulation
What is clomifene?
A drug which stimulates the release of FSH and LH
When is clomifene therapy used?
When a woman is infertile because they don’t ovulate or ovulate irregularly
What does it mean for a person to be infertile?
They can’t reproduce naturally
Why is FSH given before IVF?
To mature many follicules so more than one egg can be collected
Why is it important for more than one egg to be collected for IVF?
To increase the chance of viable embryos for transfer to the mother’s uterus
Once fertilised in IVF, the embryo is transferred to where?
The mother’s uterus
