Arousal Levels : Conciousness

Question 1

Pt is difficult to arouse from a sleepy/drowsy state, and is frequently confused when awake. Repeated stimulation is required to maintain consciousness. Interactions with PTA may be largely unproductive.

Question 2

Pt is drowsy and may fall asleep without stimulation in some way. Interactions with PTA may get diverted. Pt may have difficulty focusing or maintaining attention on a question or task.

Lethargic

Question 3

Pt responds only to strong noxious stimuli, and returns to unconscious state when stimulus removed. When aroused, Pt is unable to interact with PTA.

Pt is awake and attentive to normal levels stimulus. Interactions with PTA normal/appropriate.
