What is Leadership?
The activity of influencing people by providing purpose, direction, and motivation to accomplish the mission and improve the organization.
What is an Army Leader?
Anyone who by virtue of assumed role or assigned responsibility inspires and influences people by providing purpose, direction, and motivation to accomplish the mission and improve the organization.
What is the Army ethic?
The set of enduring moral principles, values, beliefs, and laws that guide the Army profession and create the culture of trust essential to Army professionals in the conduct of missions, performance of duty, and all aspects of life.
What is the Army profession?
A trusted vocation of Soldiers and Army civilians whose collective expertise is the ethical design, generation, support, and application of land power; serving under civilian authority; and entrusted to defend the Constitution and the rights and interests of the American people.

What is Formal Leadership?
The authority granted to individuals by virtue of assignment to positions of responsibility, according to their rank and experience.
What is Informal Leadership?
It is not based on rank or position, but on someone taking the initiative to assume responsibility for action in a situation, taking charge when no formal leader is present, or to make formal leaders aware of something they need to know. Informal leaders contribute to team success.

Any collection of people that functions together to perform a mission or task.

The voluntary developmental relationship that exists between a person of a greater experience and a person of lesser experience that is characterized by mutual trust and respect.
What is Army Team Building?
A continuous process of enabling a group of people to reach their goals and improve effectiveness through leadership and various exercises activities and techniques.
