S2 Definition of Firearm?
FIREARM = …discharged by force of explosive, adapted, …but by which if completion or replacement or correction/repair, dismantled, dangerous air gun.
S2 Definition of Air Gun?
AIR GUN = by use of gas or compressed air.
S2 Definition of Pistol?
PISTOL = held in one hand and less than 762mm in length.
S2 Definition of MSSA?
MSSA (Military style semi-automatic) = one or more of, folding telescopic butt, bayounet lugs, flash suppresor, free standing pistol grip, magazine holds >15 .22 or >7 other calibre.
S2 Definition of a Sporting Configuration?
SPORTING CONFIGURATION = semi-automatic which doesn’t have any of below features of MSSA;
folding telescopic butt, bayounet lugs, flash suppresor, free standing pistol grip, magazine holds >15 .22 or >7 other calibre.
Firearms licenes are renewed when?
Every 10 years.
What restrictions are put in place for person aged 0-16 under this act, with regards to owning/using a firearm or air gun?
0-16 cannot own fa/ag but can use under immediate supervision
What restrictions are put in place for person aged 16-18 under this act, with regards to owning/using a firearm or air gun?
16-18 requires licencefor both.
What restrictions are put in place for person aged 18+ under this act, with regards to owning/using a firearm or air gun?
18+ requires licence for f/a but not for a/g.
What can you do under a Category A firearms licence?
Licence cat A = full licence for conventional f/as (not pistols, restricted weapons or MSSAs)
What can you do under a Category B firearms licence?
B = Pistols, providing owner is a member of pistol club
What can you do under a Category C firearms licence?
C = Collections, restricted weapons in theatrical performances
What can you do under a Category D firearms licence?
D = Firearms dealers
Since 2001 all firearms licences are what colour?
Blue
Before 2001 what colour were category B-E firearms licences?
Red. Red licenses will remain until they expire.
What are the duties of a firearms licence holder?
Duties of license holders; keep license legible and undamaged, must produce to police on demand, if don’t have them produce at pig within 7days. If change address notify within 30days. report to police in writing if f/a loss or theft, if death/injury results from f/a reported to police asap
