Arm And Forearm Flashcards
Coracobrachialis
O: Coracoid process
I: mid point medial shaft of humerus
I; musculocutaneus
Flexion and addiction
Biceps brachii
O: Long head - supraglenoid fossa
Short head - coracoid process
I: radial tuberosity
I: musculocutaneus
Prime supination
Flexor of elbow
Assists in shoulder flexion
Brachialis
O: Anterior shaft lower half of humerus
I: ulnar tuberosity
I: musculocutaneus
Prime flexor of elbow
Triceps Brachii
O: long head - infraglenoid tubercle
Lateral head - shaft of humerus lateral to radial groove
Medial head - shaft medial to radial groove
I: olecranon process of ulna
I: Radial
Prime extensor of the know
Some shoulder extension
Anconeus
O: lateral epicodyle
I: upper shaft ulnar
I: radial
Extension of elbow
Median N pathway
2 inches below coracoid process
Accompanies brachial A in medial bicepetal groove
Cubical fossa
Between 2 heads of pronator teres
Found between FDS and FDP
Ulnar N pathway
2 inches below coracoid process Accompanies brachial A in medial bicepetal groove
No branches in arm
Penetrates inter muscular septum and midpoint of medial arm
Passes behind medial epicondyle
Deep to flexor carpi ulnaris and through tunnel of guyon
Musculocutaneus N pathway
1 inch below coracoid process Penetrates coracoid brachialis
Enters between biceps brachii and brachialis
Passes in front of lateral epicondyle
Changes to lateral cutaneous never of forearm that goes to styloid process
Radial N pathway
Through triangular interval
Passes through radial/spiral groove
3 motor branches
4 sensory
- poster cutaneous N of arm & forearm
- inferior lateral cutaneous N of arm
- superficial radial nerve
Brachial A branches
Deep brachial (follows radial N in spiral groove)
- supplies tricep
- divides into middle and radial collateral A for elbow supply
Superior ulnar Collateral A and inferior ulnar collateral artery for elbow supply
2 terminal branches 1-2 inches after passing in front of elbow: radial (superficial to bicepetal aponeurosis) and ulnar artery (medial)
Pronator Teres
O: humeral head - medial epicondyle
Ulnar head - coronoid process of ulnar
I: mid shaft of radius
I: median nerve
Prime pronator
Elbow flexion
Flexor carpi radialis
O: medial epicondyle
I: proximal end 2nd and 3rd MC base
I: median nerve
Radial deviation
Wrist flexion
Elbow flexion
Palmaris longus
O: medial epicondyle
I: apex of palmar aponeurosis
I: median nerve
Wrist flexion
Elbow flexion
Flexor carpi ulnaris
O: humeral head: medial epicondyle
Ulnar head - olecranon process of ulnar
I: pisiform (indirectly the tendon continues as ligament inserting into hamate via pisihamate lig and base of 5th MC via pisi carpal lig
I: ulnar nerve
Ulnar deviation
Wrist flexion
Elbow flexion
Flexor digitotum superficial is
O; humero ulnar head: medial epicondyle and coronoid process
Radial head: anterior shaft of radius
I: turns into 4 tendons inserting on either side of middle phalanges digit 2-5
I: median N
MCP and PIP digits 2-5
Elbow flexion
