Arm and elbow Flashcards
what’s the difference between the carrying angle in woman and men
females- 10-15 degrees
male-5-10 degrees
this is due to women hips
What does the arm allow you to do
Extend from shoulder to elbow
motions that occur flexion and extension elbow and pronation and supination of forearm
how many elbow joints do we contain
humeroulna joint- unaxial hinge joint
humeroradial joint- uniaxial hinge joint
proximal radialulnar joint-uniaxial pivot joint
why is the humeral condyle curved forward
to provide a full range of elbow extension
what bone rotates during pronation
radius rotates over ulna
what are the ligaments at the elbow/ forearm
annular ligament
collateral ligament
oblique cord
interosseous membrane
what does the collateral ligament break into
radial collateral ligament-lateral epicondyle and blends into annular
ulnar collateral ligament- medial epicondyle to coronoid process and olecranon of ulnar; anterior, posterior, oblique
what does the annular ligament do
encircles radius in radial notch of ulna
what does the oblique cord do
holds radius and ulna together
what does the interosseous membrane prevent
prevents displacement of the ulna and radial
what does the radial collateral ligament stabilizes the joint against
varus stress
what does the ulnar collateral ligament stabilizes the joint agains
valgus stress
what is the continuation of axillary artery
Brachial artery
the brachial vein breaks into what
superficial branch–> cephalic and basilic
Deep branch–> Brachial
contents of Cubital fossa
T-endon bicep
A-rtery brachial
N-median nerve and radial nerve
