What causes Film Scratches?
A
-Caused by abrasive material, fingernails or rough handling
-Emulsion is sensitive to scratches
-Can be identified be reflecting light off the film at an angle

What Causes Crimp Marks?
A
- Caused by bending film abruptly
- If done prior to exposure, white crescent mark
- If done after exposure, dark crescent mark

What Causes Pressure Marks?
A
- Caused by stacking film, dropping heavy specimens on film
- Is a severe localized application of pressure.
- Area affected is less dense than remainder

What Causes Static Marks?
A
- Caused by rough handling or rapid movement
- Also caused by rapid removal from paper or holder
- Appears as a branch-like, jagged dark lines or irregular dark spots

What’s Causes Screen Marks?
A
- Any blemish in lead screen becomes intensified
- Creates significant indications
- Screens must be extremely clean

What Causes Fog?
A
- It is slight overall exposure
- Caused by film being exposed to low levels of radiation.
- Also caused by high humidity or temperature.
- May be caused by safelight above acceptable limits
- Leaving Film between lead screens may also produce fogging

What Causes Light Exposure?
A
- Caused by inadvertent exposure to light
- Film holder could be faulty
- Results in severe overexposure (black streaks or blotches)

What Causes Fingermarks
A
- Caused by chemical or oil on fingers
- Easy to recogize
- May be lighter or darker
