How do you treat localized demodex in dogs?
Treat prediposing factor such as immunodeficiencies, endoparasites, clip hair, bathe, apply acarcide
What are the symptoms of generalized demodex in dogs?
Coalescing alopecia
Skin edematous, pruritic, folded, friable, oil, pyoderma skin
Localized demodex in cats
Variable lesions around eyes, head, neck, otitus externa
What is the transmission of the demodex in cats?
D. cati- queen to kittens
D. gatoi- contagious
How do you diagnose demodex on cats?
Deep skin scraping (cati) and superficial skin scraping (gatoi difficult to find)
How do you treat demodex in cats?
Lyme sulfur dip continued until lesions resolve and you have neg. skin scraping results
Where is generalized demodex in the cat found?
Head, neck and limbs
