What does AR 600-9 cover?
Army Body Composition Program (ABCP)
What are the objectives of the ABCP?
To ensure soldiers maintain Operational Readiness, Physical Fitness, Health, Professional military appearance and Established Body Fat Standards.
How often will every soldier be screened?
Every six months, at a minimum, to ensure compliance with AR 600-9
Which Soldiers are exempt from the requirements of AR 600-9?
- Soldiers with major limb loss
- Soldiers on established continued on active duty and / or continued on active reserve status
- Pregnant and postpartum soldiers
- Soldiers who have undergone prolonged hospitalization for 30 continuous days or greater
- New recruits
Who must be enrolled in the ABCP?
Soldiers who exceed body fat standards
What are the actions that are required when a soldier is determined to be exceeding the body fat standard?
- Notification counseling (enrollment)
- Soldier action plan
- Nutrition counseling
What are some of the Ramifications of the soldier being flag?
A) soldier is non-promotable
B) soldier will not be assigned to command, command sergeant major, or first sergeant positions
C) soldier is not authorized to attend military schools and institutional training courses IAW AR 350-1
What is the maximum allowable percentage of body fat standard for Age group 21- 27
Male 22%
Female 32%
Where are measurements conducted on males and females?
Male - neck and abdomen
Female - neck, waist, hip
