What are RTM codes?
to be able to report patient monitoring and treatment management
- use RTM medical devices to collect nonphysiological data
What does RTM codes describe?
Monitor health conditions that affect the patient
this includes MS system status, respiratory status, therapy adherance, therapy response

patients are able to self report, report manually or even digitally upload the data

What is code 98975?
remote therapy monitoring with the inital setup and patient education on equipment use
What is code 98976?
Remote therapy monitoring of their respiratory system each 30 days
What is code 98977?
Remote therapy monitoring of their musculoskeletal system each 30 days
What is code 98980?
remote therapy monitoring between health care professional and patient/caregiver within the month for treatment management
- first 20 minutes
What is code 98981?
each + 20 min from code 98980
98980 = meeting with health care professionals for treatment management
How is someone eligible for CPT codes?
MD order or other qualified health care professionals (PTs)
What does CPT data relate to?
To the patient signs and sx and functions of therapeutic response
What does the data represent?
objective device-generated data
or
subjective inputs that is reported by the patient
What kind of device is allowed for data collection?
be a medical device “as defined by the FDA”
When is code 98975 reported?
once per care and only if the patient started the device with pt monitoring of at least 16 days
What do you document with code 98975?
The type of device that is being used and pt education
