How is collective bargaining used in settling disputes?
-Allows both employer and employee to come to an agreement that works for both parties
-collective bargaining process of negotiation between management and union representatives.
-If it fails can proceed to mediation or arbitration
Unions can choose to boycott, strike or picketing
What did the NLR Act of 1935 do?
legalized collective bargaining and required employers to negotiate with elected representatives of their employees.
What did the FLS Act of 1938 do?
set the initial federal minimum wage and maximum basic workweek for workers engaged in interstate commerce; outlawed child labor.
What did the Taft-Hartley do?
limited unions’ power by prohibiting a variety of unfair practices, including coercing employees to join unions and coercing employers to discriminate against employees who are not union members.
What did the Landrum-Griffin Act of 1959 do?
amended the Taft-Hartley Act to promote honesty and democracy in running unions’ internal affairs.
