Nature vs. Nuture
The debate over whether human traits are presented at birth or develop through experience
Psychdynamic/ psychoanalytic
Clinical viewpoint emphasizing the understanding of mental disorders in terms of unconscious needs, desires, memories, and conflicts
behaviorism
perspective that finds the sourceof our actions in environmental stimuli, rather than in mental processes
Cognitive
emphasizing mental processes, such as learning, memory, perception, and thinking as forms of information processing
Biological
Believes our behavior can be largely explained in terms of our genetics and physiology.

Gestalt
we don’t just see the world, we actively interpret what we see depending on what we are expecting to see
Evolutionry
attempts to explain useful psyschological traits- such as memory, perception, or language- as adaptations as products of natural selection
Humanistic
emphasizes study of whole person
look at human behavior through eyes of observer and the person behaving
how individuals perceive and interpret events

Focuses on how adults, peers, and cultural beliefs and attitudes all influence individual learning and behavior
